Scholarships and Grants

The WAMA Board is pleased to provide scholarship/grant opportunities to further the education of airport professionals, undergraduates in aviation management, airport internship programs and to encourage community aviation education. We encourage member airports to apply for these scholarship and grant opportunities, and to contact their local high schools and community organizations to let students and members of the public know about the career and community education opportunities through WAMA. Applications are now available for 2024. Deadlines are March 31, 2024.

  • Professional Development (For airport personnel wishing to expand their academic knowledge in Airport Management)
The 2023 deadline has passed, but check back in 2024!
  • Community Aviation (For teachers, individuals, or groups wishing to bring aviation education to their community)

Gemma Gibbons

"I am currently enrolled as a student at Central Washington University while working full-time at Renton Municipal Airport. I would not be in my current position without resources like WAMA or mentors encouraging me to apply for an internship position."

Kennedy Vessey

Kennedy Vessey interned at Auburn airport in 2021. Kennedy reports that she has accepted employment at one of our Washington-state airports. She is not the first intern to land an airport job--there have been quite a few others.  It is encouraging to see how well this program works; giving real-world experience to young professionals, and creating a pathway to employment.
