King County International Airport/Boeing Field (KCIA) is searching for a new Airport Duty Manager who is knowledgeable, highly motivated, and an enthusiastic team player to comply with FAA FAR Part 139 and all local, state, and other federal regulations. This position will provide leadership for operations at the airport and serving as a senior airport representative. Incumbents are designated as the point of contact for information regarding safety, security, compliance, construction and interaction with airlines, passengers, tenants, and the public.
SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES:
In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum demonstrate knowledge, skill and ability to:
- Manage the daily functions and responsibilities associated with the safe and efficient Airport operations in compliance with operational and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct airfield and airport facility inspections to ensure compliance with FAR Part 139 regulations in addition to local, state and other federal regulations. Records discrepancies found during inspections and arranges for immediate corrective action when warranted.
- Activate Airport Emergency Plan when necessary. Reports unsafe conditions and policy/procedure violations and takes appropriate corrective action.
- Identify operational, safety and security concerns by maintaining constant surveillance and radio contact with the FAA Control Tower. Initiates and follows through on corrective actions.
- Manage and coordinate opening/closing of taxiways or runways with airfield tenants and the FAA control tower to ensure safety of people and aircraft.
- Respond to weather events and airport emergencies such as an accidents, bomb threats or hazardous spills.
- Develop, implement and enforce various airport programs including but not limited to Airport Driver's training, Wildlife Management, Environment compliance with Hazardous Spills, and Snow and Ice Control.
- Communicate with airline, tenant and airport personnel to resolve problems between airport customers and tenants.

Summary
Individuals assigned to this position will perform as a trainee or otherwise in a learning capacity under the direction of the Airport Manager, or designee, in any of the offices, clerical and administrative areas on a temporary basis. During the internship, not to exceed two years, the individual will be exposed to operational issues, project planning and management, development issues and requirements, financial planning and tracking, budget preparation, accident/incident procedures and general office practices.
Examples of Duties:
- Assist in the preparation of presentations to the Airport Commission and City Council at meetings regarding Arlington Airport projects or issues.
- Assist in all phases of construction projects and environmental projects including review of engineering plans, creation of a scope of work, contract preparation and review, bid notice preparation, presenting bid results, supervision of actual construction, and coordination of work with other governmental agencies.
- Provide customer service to airport tenants in answering questions and dealing with problems.
- Assist with daily deposits including cash register operation, closing out register, and posting payments to accounts and delivery of receipts to Finance Department.
- Perform ramp checks and checks of other operational areas.
- Research, assemble and compile data from varied sources and make summary reports as required.
- Provide backup telephone and reception counter assistance as needed to cover absences.
- Assist in preparing airport newsletters and maintaining airport's website and social media pages.
- May participate in snow removal on the airport.
- Predictable and regular attendance required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, tenants and the public in general.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and independently perform work assignments under infrequent supervision.
- Requires basic math skills.

- Knowledge of standard office software and basic knowledge of GIS and social media platforms.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Basic knowledge of airport operations.

- Ability to visit development sites, leased sites and other sites, to walk on all types of terrain and be outdoors in all types of weather conditions.

- Requires occasional bending and stretching and ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to drive an automobile and light duty trucks.
Qualifications
U.S. Citizen or legally eligible to work in the United States.
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Airport Management/Operations or Public Administration.
Valid Washington State Driver's License and driving record acceptable to the City.
Pilots license is preferred, however not a requirement for the position.
Successfully pass WSP WATCH Background Check.

The Position
The Airport Senior Manager is responsible for the management and operation of the Port of Olympia’s airport properties (“Tumwater properties”), including Olympia Regional Airport, New Market Industrial Campus, Cleanwater Center, and Airport Retail Center. Responsibilities include developing the appropriate goals, objectives, plans, programs, and budgets in support of the Port’s Vision 2050 Action Plan and Strategic Plan 2025.
This position works under the supervision of the Operations Director as one of four Operations business units. In turn, the Airport Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor coordinates directly with the Real Estate Senior Manager and staff to direct/supervise facility and grounds maintenance for all Tumwater properties.
The Airport Senior Manager advises the Port Commission and Executive Director on Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) policy and regulatory matters.
This is a 24/7 response obligation position.
